About my coil sculptures...They have stories outside of mere function. More like pure form, if you will. Each individual coil is rolled by hand from clay, and then placed in a way that marries calm repetition to chaos. These disorderly paths lead both to and away in a controlled jumble of visual meaning. On close inspection, the coils separately meander to reveal a pronounced individuality that belies any alignment with an industrial or mechanical realm. It is a graceful play with the soft and pliable earthy substance that allows me to dance and dream around with for days on end.

There are two sculptures, Meditation and Sprituality, that are clay slab construction rather than coils. The special titles reflect my intent that these sculptures are of women who are looking up connecting with their higher power.
